
Net Neutrality
Net neutrality is the principle that Internet Service Providers (ISPs) must treat all internet data equally. Under net neutrality, ISPs are prohibited from blocking, throttling, or charging content providers for "fast-lane" access, ensuring the internet remains an open, non-discriminatory network.[1]

At its core, net neutrality preserves the end-to-end principle of network design, which dictates that network intelligence should reside at the endpoints (servers and consumer devices) while the middle of the network acts as a neutral transport pipe.
Without net neutrality enforcement, ISPs can utilize techniques like Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) to inspect data packets traversing their networks and selectively delay or manipulate specific protocols (such as P2P file sharing or video streaming).
